October is European Cybersecurity Month, a good opportunity to refresh security habits across your organisation. This four week plan takes little time and builds lasting awareness.
Week 1: Accounts and Passwords
Check that multifactor authentication is enabled on every account. Introduce or promote your password manager. Share a short guide on recognising suspicious sign in prompts.
Week 2: Phishing
Run a short awareness session using real examples. Follow with a friendly phishing simulation and explain the results without blaming individuals.
Week 3: Devices and Data
Remind staff to install updates, lock screens and report lost devices immediately. Review who has access to shared files and remove what is no longer needed.
Week 4: Incidents
Make sure everyone knows how to report a problem and who to contact. Walk management through a simple incident scenario.
Keep It Going
One short reminder a month maintains the momentum long after October.
