The iGaming industry continues to look beyond traditional casino and sportsbook products. NEXT.io recently reported the view of Swivel’s CEO that new verticals will overtake online casino in the US, and events dedicated to prediction markets and emerging verticals are becoming a regular fixture.
Whatever the commercial case, adding a new product type to an existing platform raises practical technical questions.
Regulatory Fit
Confirm how the product is classified in each target market, which licence covers it and which technical standards apply. A product that is permitted in one jurisdiction may be restricted in another.
Wallet and Settlement
New products often settle differently from casino rounds or sports bets. Check how the wallet handles long running positions, partial settlements, cancellations and reversals.
Risk and Integrity
Review how the product will be monitored for suspicious activity, market manipulation and bonus abuse, and whether existing risk tools can support it.
Responsible Gaming Controls
Make sure deposit limits, time outs and self exclusion apply to the new product in exactly the same way as existing ones.
Reporting and Reconciliation
Finance, compliance and regulators will all expect clear reporting. Confirm that the product feeds existing reports correctly before launch.
Capacity and Monitoring
New products can create new traffic patterns. Load test the platform and extend monitoring to the new player journeys.
Start Small
Launch in one market, with a clear set of success measures and a rollback plan. Expand once the technology, the controls and the commercial results are proven.
